You can set a default card in your profile. This card will be used for all your Zip payments unless you choose otherwise.
How default cards work
Your profile default card is used for all ongoing and future orders.
If you pay an instalment for a specific order using a different card, that card becomes the default for that order only.
If you later update your profile default card, it will apply to all ongoing and future orders — even if you used a different card for the first payment.
To set a preferred card for an existing order
You can either:
Make a manual payment for that order using your preferred card (this will update the default card for that order), or
Set your preferred card as the default in your profile (this will apply to all payments).
Important
If you haven’t selected a default card in your profile, payments will automatically be deducted from the card used for the first instalment of each order.
Here's an example:
Let's say there are 2 cards on your Zip profile. Card 1 has been set as the profile default card, and you used Card 1 as the payment card for an order's first instalment. All future instalments for that order will be charged to Card 1.
| Card 1 | 123456........78 01/24 | Default | All instalments for this and other orders |
| Card 2 | 987654........32 11/23 |
Scenario A
If you make a manual payment for the second instalment on that order with Card 2, all future instalments for that order will be charged to Card 2, but Card 1 will remain the default for all other payments (on your other orders).
| Card 1 | 123456........78 01/24 | Default | Instalment 1 for this order, all instalments for all other orders |
| Card 2 | 987654........32 11/23 | Instalment 2, 3, 4 for this order |
Scenario B
After making payment for the first instalment on Card 1, you set Card 2 as the default card on your profile. All future payments on all future orders will be charged to Card 2.
| Card 1 | 123456........78 01/24 | Instalment 1 | |
| Card 2 | 987654........32 11/23 | Default | Instalment 2, 3, 4 for this order, all instalments for all other orders |
