When you add a new debit or credit card to your Zip account, we place a temporary 1 cent pre-authorisation on the card.
This helps us confirm the card is valid and can be used for transactions. Once the card is successfully added, Zip immediately instructs your bank to release the 1 cent hold.
Depending on your bank’s processing times, it can take up to 7 business days for the pending transaction to clear from your account.
This is not a fee, and Zip does not keep the 1 cent.
