After careful consideration, Zip has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the New Zealand market to focus on continued sustainable growth in Australia and the United States.
Zip will cease providing Zip Services in New Zealand from 11.59pm 16 August 2026. From that date, Zip will no longer accept or authorise new transactions in New Zealand.
When will this happen?
Up until 16 August 2026, existing customers will be able to continue to transact with their Zip account.
From 17 July 2026, we will no longer be approving new customers.
From 16 August 2026, customers will no longer be able to make new purchases using Zip

Should I remove Zip branding now?
Please remove all Zip ‘Apply Now’ messaging from your checkout, websites and in-store prior to 21 July 2026.

Should we pause campaigns or marketing?
Up until 16 August 2026, existing customers will be able to continue to transact with their Zip account. We fully understand if you want to remove it prior to this date.
Is there risk to ongoing operations?
In line with our standard terms and conditions, we will continue to accept and process refunds up until 5 October 2026.
From 12 October 2026, you will no longer have access to the Merchant Portal. To minimise the risk of disruption, we recommend that you download any transaction information you may require before 12 October 2026.
Does this impact our operations with you in other markets?
This will not impact any Agreement related to Zip Services that you may have with Zip outside of New Zealand.
